First trip to the Zoo

During Isaiah's last week of freedom before returning to school we decided to take Micah to the Zoo. We weren't too sure what he would think of it. But it was a hit!

Ft. Stevens Campout

As many of you know, every summer we look forward to the Temple Baptist Annual Ft. Stevens Campout. This is a great opportunity for family and frineds to spend a weekend "roughing it" (with running water, flush toilets, and showers) at the beach. This year was no exception...although unfortunalty at the last minute Ryan was not able to join us due to his heavy work schedule right now :-( We did have a good time though. Micah LOVED playing in the sand & with his cousin Ella. Here are a couple shots from our weekend.

All suited up and ready to go
Micah enjoys his first bike ride at Ft. Stevens
This year Micah was finally big enough to ride on the back of Uncle Ben's bike. I was smart enough not to try to ride him around myself, 'cause most of you know...I'm quite the clutz!
Ella & Micah take a bath in Grandma & Grandpa Johnson's trailer
This year my parents finally broke down and bought themselves a trailer...which I don't think they regret buying anymore. They enjoyed staying warm at night, sleeping on a comfy mattress & having the four walls block out the sound of crying babies at 3 am :-) Andree & I were personally very excited to make good use of the bathtub in the trailer since our kids (mostly Micah) were a total mess!!
My dirty little boy
This is my dirty little boy...he did not hessitate to lay down in the sand, face down, and do an immitation of a snow angel (a.k.a. sand angel)
Real Ft. Stevens Camping...standing in the road
Enjoying Grandma's Wagon
Mom's contribution to the camping trip was buying this little red wagon. It was great to take the kids around the loop and have them sit back & take it all in. I think by the end of the week the two of them weren't too keen on sharing the space anymore though, you would often find one trying to push the other one out of the wagon with their feet.

Grandma & Grandpa Fast visit

Grandma & Grandpa Fast decided to do an end of summer "surprise" visit to see us. After visiting the bridge on Saturday I decided to take everyone on a short hike to a local swimming hole in the park that I had found a couple weeks ago. It was a total hit! We only wished we had brought our swimming trunks.

Micah & Grandma enjoy the water
Micah had fun splashing around in the water. He was soaking wet by the time we were done.

Micah & Grandma explore the water
Grandma showed Micah how to throw rocks & go pick them up. He had a little trouble when the rock would land in water that was a little deeper than his arm would reach...he was surprised when his face got wet trying to retreive the rock.

Micah climbs a rock
While he wasn't splashing in the water he was climbing on the rocks. I think I have a rock climber in the making :-)

Ryan's Bridge

Many of you have heard about "Ryan's Bridge," well last week Ryan's parents came down & visited. They took the liberty to snap some photos & I thought I'd share them with all of you. Traffic has been driving across the bridge for about three weeks now & they are just doing some cosmetic finishing touches.

Micah makes some mischief

So the other day we were hanging out in the trailer (because again it was too warm for us to go outside). And I discovered that Micah had snuck behind my chair and emptied his dirty clothes basket. Once he had emptied the basked, which he had done many times before, he climbed right in & began to ham it up for the camera (which he had never done before). So therefore, being a first time mommy I had to catch some cute shots. I hope you enjoy!!

Sunshine-y Day!!

Well I am happy to announce that the weather has FINALLY cooled off here. Today we had a beautiful high of 80 degrees. Although this weekend it's supposed to be in the tripple digits again. I was excited about this cool day because it allowed me to get out this morning and go do something with Micah. We decided to go over to the park...where Miach trampped around for over an hour. He spent most of his time trying to climb up the slide or chase a dog on the other side of the park.

Micah LOVES to go up slides

Camping at Morro Bay

Last week Micah & I decided to join the church youth group on their annual campout at Morro Bay (central California Coast). Ryan was very disappointed that he couldn't join us but his bridge was in full swing (and I don't even think he missed us too much ;-). I was a little nervous about camping with Micah & 35 teenagers by myself. But it went well. Many of the girls were anxious to push Micah around & take him off my hands. Additionally a friend's two daughters (ages 7 & 11) were perfect to watch Micah while I ran to the bathroom.

The weather was a wonderful relief from the crazy temps in Oakhurst. I think the daily highs didn't get above 75 & the nighttime lows were in the low 60's. It was actually harder to adjust when we returned home.

Camping at the beach
I had to special order fuzzy pajamas that would fit Micah for this trip (apparently, short sleeve cotton pj's didn't quite cut it at the beach). Micah spent a majority of his time in "the cage." Which was nice because he kept wanting to run into the street.

Micah builds a sand castle
Micah still does not like the ocean wather (which was nice since I was doing this by myself) but he did like playing in the sand.
My sandy faced boy
I don't know if you can see it...but this is my sandy faced boy. Apparently sunscreen & sand mix a little too well. The sand seemed attracted to Micah's face & was virtually impossible to get off.
Isabella & Micah play in the back of the pickup
Isabella was one of the girls who helped watch Micah a lot. The girls were always trying to put this stocking cap on him that he hated (it probably had to do with the fact that it was last year's & was a little small)
