Disneyland for Daddy (and Micah)

A trip to southern California isn't complete without a visit to Disneyland. So after we were totally exausted from Spirit West Coast for three days, we decided to stop off in Aneheim on our way home. This was Micah's first visit to Disneyland. We decided to focus this visit on the "kiddy" rides and Mommy & Daddy actually had a lot of fun on them to. Here are some of the highlights from our visit.

Micah's favorite ride out of the whole day was the teacups...even if he couldn't walk streight afterwards!

We ended our day by watching the Disneyland parade. In all of our visits to Disneyland/world Ryan & I have never watched these parades. We are very sorry we didn't watch them on previous visits.

Micah enjoyed the parade also, he waved at all of the characters as they passed by.

Spirit West Coast - Del Mar

Well, Micah had his first opportunity to do promotions for Teen Missions this past weekend. We were asked to represent TMI at Spirit West Coast - Del Mar. It was an exciting experience, which we've never done before. We were blessed to have our booth right outside the entry gates & we estimate over 1,000 people stopped by our booth & over 800 either picked up material or expressed intrest in following up with us further.

Micah was a trooper through it all. He enjoyed the kids play area nearby. He spent most of the day begging to go down to the play area & "bounce" in the inflatable bounce house. He also enjoyed puppet shows & concerts specifically designed for kids. I think he actually caught more concerts than we did.

Every day our booth was open from 9am - 11:30pm. It was crazy & we are totally exausted, but had an amazing & wonderful time. Here are some pics from the event.

Mother's Day treat....

In celebration of Mother's Day this year, Ryan offered to take me to any local attraction I wanted (he was hopping for Disneyland) but I chose the Monterey Aquarium. We had a great time. We headed down late on Friday night & spent Saturday enjoying the fish & the surf.

Micah's favorite exhibit was the otters. He spent a lot of time babbling at the fish & mammals.

One of the "shows" they put on is having a diver get into a tank & swim around & feed the fish. The was extreamly exciting for Micah to watch.

They had some exhibits that featured the "characters" from Nemo. This was paticuarlly exciting for Micah...who we had to pry away from the fish tank.

After we were done at the aquarium I insisted on taking a short drive down the coast & dipping my toes in the Pacific. Micah kept watching the water out his window & wanted to jump in too. So we pullled our car over to the side of the road & got out and endured the wind to take Micah down to the surf. But just like last year he was scared to death of the waves (which I'm excited about). We we just walked along the shoreline.

Our final stop on the was home was Casa de Fruta. It's a whole in the wall tourist trap that is halfway to the bay area. Ryan and I always go speeding by it & have never stopped. We took in the resturant, miniture train & zoo. About halfway through the train ride we looked at each other & commented how we felt like we were at "Wall Drug," another cheesey tourist trap. But it was fun & Micah loved the train ride.

New Toy

I have been wanting to pick up at sand/water table for Micah for quite some time now...but they're just too expensive. You never know if they are going to like it or not. So the other day I was in Fresno visiting the local thrift shops to pick-up supplies for a youth in our church who will soon be living on his own. When low & behold in the corner was a sand/water table!! I drug that thing up to the register & then shoved it in the car (it was quite the ordeal getting it in there). But once I had it set up at home, Micah can't help himself. He always is standing at our window saying "outside, play, Milk" (that's what he calls water).

By day #2 he had figured out how to climb insdie it. He uses it like a makeshift pool, since we're on water restrictions we can't let him play in a real one.
