Playing around at the shop

As some of you know, Micah and I have been spending a couple days a week for a past couple weeks helping out a friend at church by working at her Skate Shop in town. You got it right, I am now an expert on skateboarding (even though I can't stand on one of the things :-) Micah & I kill the time between customers playing soccer in between the clothing racks & trying on really big shoes (as you can see below). Micah really likes walking around like a duck in these size 12 shoes.

Weekend Hike

Well, life around here has become pretty predictable. Ryan works really long hours & I try to fill my time with activities at chruch & with friends. Last weekend a couple families in the church decided to take some of the youth up to Sentinel Dome (one of the highest points near Yosemite Valley) to watch the sunset & the full moon rise. It was amazing and impressive! I still can not believe how beautiful of a land the Lord has made! Although Micah and I were a little slow climing the mountian (put 30 lbs on the back of my out-of-shape body & it's a recipe for slow travel), we eventually made it to the top to catch a last minute glimps of the sun sneaking below the clouds....AMAZING!!!

Enjoying a seasonal favorite

So last week I was enjoying a piece of corn (very yummy, if I may say so!). Well Micah was sitting there & reached over & tried to yank it out of my hand. Now, you have to understand that up to this point Micah has shown no interest in corn (off the cob, that is). Well he grabbed hold & started chomping! He loved it :-)

Still following in his Daddy's footsteps

It's great to see Micah grow...he continues to LOVE playing the piano. He now insists on sitting on the piano bench in order to maximize his playing ability. Grandma Fast & Daddy were quite impressed!

First trip to the Zoo

During Isaiah's last week of freedom before returning to school we decided to take Micah to the Zoo. We weren't too sure what he would think of it. But it was a hit!

Ft. Stevens Campout

As many of you know, every summer we look forward to the Temple Baptist Annual Ft. Stevens Campout. This is a great opportunity for family and frineds to spend a weekend "roughing it" (with running water, flush toilets, and showers) at the beach. This year was no exception...although unfortunalty at the last minute Ryan was not able to join us due to his heavy work schedule right now :-( We did have a good time though. Micah LOVED playing in the sand & with his cousin Ella. Here are a couple shots from our weekend.

All suited up and ready to go
Micah enjoys his first bike ride at Ft. Stevens
This year Micah was finally big enough to ride on the back of Uncle Ben's bike. I was smart enough not to try to ride him around myself, 'cause most of you know...I'm quite the clutz!
Ella & Micah take a bath in Grandma & Grandpa Johnson's trailer
This year my parents finally broke down and bought themselves a trailer...which I don't think they regret buying anymore. They enjoyed staying warm at night, sleeping on a comfy mattress & having the four walls block out the sound of crying babies at 3 am :-) Andree & I were personally very excited to make good use of the bathtub in the trailer since our kids (mostly Micah) were a total mess!!
My dirty little boy
This is my dirty little boy...he did not hessitate to lay down in the sand, face down, and do an immitation of a snow angel (a.k.a. sand angel)
Real Ft. Stevens Camping...standing in the road
Enjoying Grandma's Wagon
Mom's contribution to the camping trip was buying this little red wagon. It was great to take the kids around the loop and have them sit back & take it all in. I think by the end of the week the two of them weren't too keen on sharing the space anymore though, you would often find one trying to push the other one out of the wagon with their feet.
True Camping...dirty!
